Curriculum of Art and Visual Culture

The Nijmegen programme offers a tailored trajectory in art history, visual culture, cultural studies, media studies, or related fields with a strong theoretical perspective. This programme has a course load of 120 EC* (two years), in which you will follow interdisciplinary courses, specialisation courses and research courses. There is also an individual programme.

  • Curriculum year 1

    In your first year of the Master’s specialisation in Art and Visual Culture, which has a course load of 60 EC, you will follow general and Art and Visual Culture courses, and you also have free electives.

    Currently, the programme of this research master’s is being revised. However, the core aspects of the programme will be maintained. These core aspects are:

    • A combination of interdisciplinary courses, specialization courses and electives
    • Tutoring by experienced researchers of the Radboud Institute of Culture and History (RICH)
    • International study abroad or international internship

    The second year of the Research Master's Historical, Literary and Cultural Studies consists of the same courses for all three specialisations. The majority of your second year will be related to research.

During your Master’s programme, you will have the opportunity to go abroad for your studies, internship and/or thesis.
