An ecosystem consists of numerous plants, animals and micro-organisms, influenced by soil and water characteristics, weather conditions and human intervention. In this Master’s specialisation you’ll get insight into the relations between different communities and how they react to environmental stress. This fundamental knowledge can be applied in nature conservation and restoration or in nature-based industrial processes, for example, water purification.
Programme structure
The Master's specialisation in Conservation and Restoration Ecology has a course load of 120 EC over two years, structured as follows:
- Compulsory courses (18 EC)
- Electives (18 EC)
- Internships (72 EC)
- Thesis and research (12 EC)
The first period in the first year contains five compulsory courses. You can compose the rest of the programme with specialisation courses and free electives, (two) internships, a literature thesis, writing a research proposal or a field course in Switzerland or Poland.
