Study programme

In this specialisation you will dive into ecological issues on all size scales and connecting scientific findings to societal implications or environmental policies. You will be trained to become an environmental expert, analysing the human impact on nature. You will learn to unravel the effects of stressors - like carbon dioxide emission or toxic pesticide - to connect scientific findings to societal implications or environmental policies.

One year of your Master’s is completely dedicated to academic research. You’ll learn to design, perform and evaluate your own research. A research project may contain both lab and field work, covering multiple biological levels from cell to ecosystem. Furthermore, you’ll have the opportunity to link data using advanced pollution models and include the societal aspects.

  • Curriculum of Environment & Sustainability

    The Master’s specialisation in Environment & Sustainability has a course load of 120 EC (two years). The first year of this specialisation contains five compulsory courses in the first period. You can compose the rest of the programme with electives, internships, literature theses and optionally a field course abroad.

During your Master's programme, you will have the opportunity to go abroad for your studies, internship and/or thesis. You will learn to look at things from the perspective of a different culture and you will meet new people; it is an experience that will enrich your life.
