Gender equality, diversity and inclusion are hot topics in contemporary politics and society. Enhancing and managing the diversity of the workforce in a sustainable manner is a key challenge for private and public organisations alike. In this Master specialisation, you will learn how gendered power structures are consituted and reproduced, and you will also learn about viable strategies for change.
Master's specialisation in Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Politics
- The programme focuses on the role and function of gender and diversity in society, with a particular emphasis on underlying power processes in politics and society. Questions are addressed related to the role of culture, identity, leadership, and politics in the (re)production of structural inequalities (regarding gender, ethnicity, sexuality, class, age, disability).
- We offer state of the art theoretical insights and provide a solid training in research methods to help you design and implement organisational interventions and solve policy problems. As a GEP student you will be offered an interdisciplinary education, leading to the only Master’s Degree (MSc) in Political Science with a specialisation in gender equality, diversity and inclusion in the Netherlands.
- The Master’s programme in Political Science is accredited by the NVAO (the Dutch-Flemish accreditation organisation). The panel, consisting of international experts, concludes that the programme is rightly proud of its community spirit, which continues to benefit the programme’s achievement level and its graduates’ careers alike (source: Academion, 2023).
- Political Science has an active study association, ismus, which organises various formal and informal activities. Furthermore, students of Political Science can join the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS).
- The study programme of Political Science has received excellent evaluations (Keuzegids Master's 2022).
- The Political Science Master’s has dual degree programmes with American University (Washington, DC) and the Universities of Bamberg and Glasgow.
