Study programme master Philosophy (Research) year 1
In the first year of the research master's Philosophy, you follow a two-semester seminar on research methodologies (20 ec), one seminar in your area of specialisation (10 ec), two seminars of your own choice (2 × 10 ec), and an elective master course of your own choice (10 ec).
About this study curriculum
Specialisation seminar
All students have to take at least one seminar of their own specialisation. Most specialisations offer two seminars every year, the content of which changes every year.
Elective research seminars
Students are free to choose any related master’s course that is specifically constructed as a research course. This can be a course offered at Radboud University or any other university in the Netherlands or abroad. As an elective research seminar, students often choose the seminars from the other specialisations within our research master’s in Philosophy. For an overview of these electives, please visit the course guide.
Elective courses
Students are free to choose any related master’s course at Radboud University or any other university in the Netherlands or abroad. Research master’s students are encouraged to join the activities organised by the OZSW (Dutch Research School of Philosophy), such as study groups, workshops, or the Autumn School for research master’s students.
