Linguistics

Radboud University is renowned for its research and teaching in the field of linguistics. Many of our courses offer a mix of theoretical and practical knowledge: courses situate insights from linguistic and language acquisition theory within the context of everyday communication and contemporary language use. This content is reflected in Language Variation and Multilingualism, where you have the opportunity to develop a unique profile by specialising in your field of interest. Besides our programme Language Variation and Multilingualism, Radboud University offers two content specific Master's in Dutch as a Second Language and Language and Speech Pathology (in Dutch).

Specialisations

  • Dutch as a Second Language: Teacher and Expert

    The Master’s specialisation Dutch as a Second Language for Teachers and Experts will allow you to develop your skills and increase your knowledge so that you can become an expert or teacher of Dutch as a second language.

  • Language and Speech Pathology

    As a language and speech pathologist you will look at the origin of communication disorders and how they relate to normal development in children or to the normal ageing process. You will learn to use advanced methods to diagnose disorders and identify progress.

  • Language Variation and Multilingualism

    In this Master's specialisation, you learn to become a competent linguist who has an understanding of language variation and multilingualism, two central and interrelated topics within linguistics.

Pre-Master's

  • Pre-Master's Dutch as a Second Language: Teacher and Expert

    If you are not able to directly enrol in the Master’s specialisation in Dutch as a Second Language for Teachers and Experts, you may be eligible for a pre-Master’s programme. in which you will learn more about the Dutch language.

  • Pre-Master's Language and Speech Pathology

    If you are not able to directly enrol in the Master’s specialisation in Language and Speech Pathology, you may be eligible for a pre-Master’s programme in which you will acquire the necessary basic knowledge for the Master’s programme.

  • Pre-Master's Language Variation and Multilingualism

    If you are not able to directly enrol in the Master’s specialisation in Language Variation and Multilingualism, you may be eligible for the pre-Master’s programme in which you will learn about language variation and multilingualism.
