Curriculum of Linguistics and Communication Sciences (research)

Students of the research Master’s in Linguistics and Communication Sciences must take the following components. For both the research and research-associated components, students are free to choose their subject matter, allowing them to tailor the programme to their own academic and professional interests. There is a total of 78 EC of fixed components, 30 EC in specialisation courses and 12 EC in skills and methods electives.

Curriculum

  • Curriculum year 1

    Year 1 consists of a few compulsory courses with a course load of 27 EC. In addition, you’ll follow elective courses with a course load of 33 EC. A schematic overview of the programme can be found here.

  • Curriculum year 2

    Year 2 consists of a few compulsory courses with a course load of 21 EC. In addition, you’ll follow elective courses with a course load of 9 EC. The Master's will be completed with a Master’s Thesis consisting of 30 EC. A schematic overview of the programme can be found here.

Study abroad

During your Master’s programme, you will have the opportunity to go abroad for your studies, internship and/or thesis. You will learn to look at things from the perspective of a different culture and you will meet new people; it is an experience that will enrich your life. What’s more, it will look great on your CV.
