What will you learn

The Mathematics department in Nijmegen excels in cutting-edge research and covers a broad range of research fields in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and mathematical physics. In addition to the training in modern mathematics you will develop a full range of transferable skills highly valued in all career paths.

As a student in this Master’s specialisation you choose one of the core tracks or, if you are interested in an interdisciplinary programme, you choose one of the synergy tracks that interconnect mathematics with another field of science. Within each track you can select from a large variety of courses and build you own tailor-made programme.

In all industries analytical skills are in high demand. Mathematicians are desired in all these industries, including the industrial, banking, technology and service industry as well as within management, consultancy, and education. A Master’s in Mathematics will show prospective employers that you have perseverance, patience, and an eye for detail, as well as a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.

After your studies

Research

This Master’s specialisation is offered in close connection with the Mathematics department. The research you will conduct for your Master's thesis depends on the track you choose. Within the core tracks you join a research group within the Mathematics department. In one of the synergy tracks, you will work on an interdisciplinary project with other disciplines, such as (astro)physics or computing science. It is also possible to do an internship at a company or a governmental institution. Radboud University has contact with many companies and can help you find a suitable project.
