The Mathematics department in Nijmegen has a strong expertise in a broad range of fields in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and mathematical physics. Within all tracks you can select from a large variety of courses and build you own tailor-made programme. In addition to the training in modern mathematics you will develop a full range of transferable skills highly valued in all career paths. You can specialise within a research field in Mathematics, or choose one of the synergy tracks, if you are interested in interdisciplinary applications. The synergy tracks connect mathematics with other fields of science.

In nearly all branches analytical skills are in high demand and mathematicians are desired employees in industrial, banking, technology and service industry as well as within management, consultancy, research and education. A Master’s in Mathematics will show prospective employers that you have perseverance, patience, and an eye for detail, as well as a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
Career prospectsResearch
The research you will conduct for your Master's thesis depends on the track you choose. Within the core tracks you join one of the research groups within the Mathematics department. Within the synergy tracks, you will work on an interdisciplinary project with other disciplines, such as (astro)physics or computing science. It is also possible to do an internship at a company or a governmental institution. Radboud University has contact with many companies and can help you find a suitable project.
