What will you learn

The Mathematics department in Nijmegen is leading research in a broad range of fields in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and mathematical physics. This means you can choose between three core mathematics tracks, and specialise or broaden your knowledge by selecting from a wide range of electives.

If you are interested to apply your mathematical skills to another field, you can choose one of the interdisciplinary synergy tracks that connect mathematics with another field of science. Within each track you can select from a large variety of courses and build you own tailor-made programme. In addition to the training in modern mathematics you will develop a full range of transferable skills highly valued in all career paths.

In all industries analytical skills are in high demand. Mathematicians are desired in all these industries, including the industrial, banking, technology and service industry as well as within management, consultancy, and education. A Master’s in Mathematics will show prospective employers that you have perseverance, patience, and an eye for detail, as well as a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.

Career prospects

Research

This Master’s specialisation is offered in close connection with the Mathematics department. The research you will conduct for your Master's thesis depends on the track you choose. Within the core tracks you join a research group within the Mathematics department. In one of the synergy tracks, you will work on an interdisciplinary project with other disciplines, such as (astro)physics or computing science. It is also possible to do an internship at a company or a governmental institution. Radboud University has contact with many companies and can help you find a suitable project.
