What will you learn
In the Master's in Medical Data Science, you will learn to analyze complex biomedical data and develop AI applications for healthcare and research.
During the first year, you build a strong foundation in data science, deep learning, and key concepts of biomedical sciences. You will work with diverse medical data from a variety of sources, including imaging, genomics, and wearables, while being free of choosing one domain for further specialization. In addition, you will explore the ethical and legal aspects of medical data science and the role of sustainability.
During the second year, you apply and expand your knowledge through electives and two practice-oriented internships. You may choose scientific projects at hospitals, universities, research institutes, or companies while further developing your professional skills. This prepares you to become a medical data scientist who applies AI and data science responsibly and effectively to tackle clinical and biomedical challenges.
You will investigate how data science tools can contribute to diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention, while supporting scientific biomedical research. By analyzing medical data, developing impactful data science solutions, and advising on responsible data use, you will be prepared for a key role in shaping the future of healthcare and biomedical research through data science.
Study programmeFuture career opportunities
The Master Medical Data Science (MDS) prepares you to become a professional who connects data and technology with healthcare and biomedical research.
Career prospectsResearch
Research within the master is closely linked to the biomedical field. Researchers involved in the MDS programme aim at developing and applying AI and data science tools to improve and innovate diagnosis, disease treatment and prevention. Examples include application of modern machine learning methods to oncological pathology, analysis of genetic mutations leading to rare diseases and improvement of healthcare quality through epidemiology and implementation.
