Why study this programme?

The world shows manifest economic, ecological and social challenges. How should cities and regions meet these challenges? This specialisation focuses on current and new ways to organise local business, value chains, knowledge development, and governance, in view of conceptual debates on sustainability, technology, globalisation, inequality, and capitalism.

Master's specialisation in New Economic Geographies, Ecologies and Business Innovation

  • In this specialisation, you will learn to understand and apply current as well as alternative economic, geographical and business perspectives, focused on the prosperous and sustainable development of local and regional economies.
  • You will receive a thorough training in analytical approaches to study local-global interaction. You will also take part in fundamental discussions on sustainability, globalisation, inequality, innovation and the future of the capitalist system.
  • Although the foundation of this specialisation is economical and geographical, our approach to this theme is highly multidisciplinary to include related fields as environmental studies, spatial planning, and public administration.
  • The specialisation is part of Radboud's Human Geography Masters, with a reputation in critical debates and studies which seek to make a difference to our thinking about, and actions within, the world we live in. We're known for not staying on the beaten path.
  • You pick electives to advance your own specialisation, to orient yourself for instance to the economic, business, ecological, social (inequality), or administrative (governance) side of economic-geographical questions.
