Why study this programme?
The world shows manifest differences in economic performances and wealth, and in the way cities and regions form part of national and global economic systems. Economic geography studies these differences and their consequences for places and communities.
Master's specialisation in New Economic Geographies, Ecologies and Business Innovation
- In this specialisation, you will learn to understand and apply mainstream as well as more alternative economic perspectives, to provide a wide range of answers to the question why place matters so much in economic development, and how the economic strength of places can be encouraged.
- You will receive a thorough training in analytical approaches to study local-global interaction. You will also take part in fundamental discussions on globalisation, spatial inequality, innovation and the future of the capitalist system.
- Although the foundation of this specialisation is economical and geographical, our approach to this theme is highly multidisciplinary to include related fields as sociology, spatial planning, public administration and history.
- Over the past years, Radboud University has made a name for itself in the field of Human Geography for not shying away from critical debates and by researching topics in the field that are of societal importance but not always favoured with large (EU) funding. We’re known for not staying on the beaten path.
- You pick electives that will determine an extra focus within the field of economic geography; and so you could include courses in which you will gain knowledge more on fields of the Global South, or on conflict management or on urban and cultural geography or cultural geography and tourism.
