What do you like about the programme/specialisation and why?
I'm a girl that loves mathematics and is interested in computing science and healthcare. I never thought I would find a programme where I could combine all my interests, but I found one in the SMI programme for Mathematics students in Nijmegen. Doing exactly the things that I love in a study makes me a very happy student.
What do you think about the atmosphere in class?
There is a very open atmosphere. I have to work hard to pass my classes, but since all professors and researchers want to help you and want to see you pass, it definitely feels like you don't have to do all the hard work by yourself. They are also very involved in your programme. For example, a year after I finished my Bachelor's thesis, my supervisor suddenly asked if I passed a certain Master's course: he heard I took the class and immediately asked if I passed it. Then, as he heard I passed, he was sincerely happy for me.
Why do you think it is important that there are people out there with this degree?
With this degree, I will not only have high analytical skills, but I will know how to integrate this into and combine this with my knowledge about management and innovation. This combination will make me a unique employee for any company that I'm interested in.
