Jurian van der Waal is a Master's student Strategic Management.

'The Master's programme Strategic Management connects well with my interests in strategy & policy. It challenges me to think about creating value in a responsible way, in collaboration with stakeholders. What I like most about the programme is the focus on strategic change, and the way change can be implemented in complex environments.

I love how approachable teachers were during classes, but also outside classes. There is a lot of interaction and discussion between students, but also between students and teachers. This results in an atmosphere where all people challenge each other to get the most out of their education.

When you put the right amount of time into studying and preparing for classes, the programme is pretty doable. Some courses suited me more than others, but in general I was able to keep up quite well. The amount of articles that you have to read can sometimes seem a little overwhelming, but at least they're quite interesting

I am currently writing my thesis about the desired organisational identity of the Radboud University. The identity tells us something about where an organisation comes from, and what it wants to achieve in the future. Especially with the rich history of this university and its complex environment with a lot of important stakeholders, this topic suits me really well.

At the end of your degree, you are specialised in how organisations can survive in complex environments and how you can create a competitive advantage in a responsible way. This makes that Strategic Management students can end up in almost all sectors and organisations, either governmental or non-governmental. There is a lot of demand for young and passionate graduates within the job market, who want to make this world a better place. That is why I am now orienting myself in multiple sectors to see which starter positions give me energy, and where I can use my talents in the right way.'
