Taalschakeltraject

'Het Taalschakeltraject' is a cooperation between HAN University of Applied Sciences and Radboud University. Together, we offer the Onderwijsroute, in which you both work on integration/naturalisation and on preparing for a study programme in higher education.

    General

    What is the Taalschakeltraject?

You are new to the Netherlands, need to integrate and would like to study here: The Taalschakeltraject is specifically for higher-educated non-native Dutch speakers. It is a joint programme of HAN and Radboud University.

    For whom?

Do you have a foreign diploma at vwo/wo level or havo exact and would you like to study at Radboud University? Then you will take the admission tests for Radboud University during your first year at HAN. Did you pass these tests? Then you will transfer to Radboud University after the first year at HAN. This is done in consultation with, and after approval from, the coordinator and study advisor of the Taalschakeltraject at Radboud University.

During the Taalschakeltraject at Radboud University, you will acquire knowledge and skills in preparation for admission to study programme in university education. Programme

The Taalschakeltraject consists of several parts.

    Part 1

In the first part, you receive NT2 lessons from level A0 to B1. You have lessons three times a week. The lessons last 3-3.5 hours. In addition, you have to spend about 15 hours a week on homework assignments and self-study. An independent and active study attitude is therefore important.

We also organise a number of excursions to get to know the Netherlands better, introduce you to the Dutch professional field, give you a buddy and guide you by a mentor. We start a group twice a year. If you pass everything in one go, this part takes 1 year.

    Part 2

The second part of the Taalschakeltraject, the switching year, is a full-time programme. You have about 25 hours of lessons per week. Your class schedule is partly determined by the number of electives you take, depending on your choice of study. It is an intensive year that starts twice a year, in September and February. This part lasts 1 to 1.5 years and consists of the following components:

       Dutch up to C1 level
       English up to B2 level
       Mathematics A or B
Tailor-made subjects (depending on your choice of study): physics, chemistry, biology and/or history
Learning skills that are important for your further education, such as project-based work, presenting, ICT skills and working independently

If you successfully complete this course, you will receive a Taalschakel-diploma and will be able to enter the course of your choice in the month of September.

    Location

Classes are held on the Radboud University campus in Nijmegen and in Utrecht (physics, chemistry and biology).
