Minors and free elective space Faculty of Arts

The curriculum for Bachelor’s programmes at the Faculty of Arts is being gradually updated. Depending on the year in which you started your Bachelor’s programme (the so-called cohort), the elective space in the second and/or third year will be organised differently. Below, you will find the relevant information for each cohort.

In short

Cohort 2025

If you started your Bachelor’s programme at the Faculty of Arts in the 2025-2026 academic year, your programme will include 60 EC of elective space: 30 EC in the second year (B2) and 30 EC in the third year (B3). In the minor space in B2, you will choose two minors within the Faculty of Arts. In the B3 free elective space, you can take 30 EC worth of courses from other study programmes.

Cohort 2024

If you started your Bachelor’s programme at the Faculty of Arts in the 2024-2025 academic year, you will have 30 EC of free elective space in your third year (B3). You can fill this free elective space yourself by taking courses in other programmes (within or outside Radboud University or the Netherlands), to further develop yourself and broaden your studies.

Cohort 2023 or prior

If you started your Bachelor’s programme at the Faculty of Arts in the 2023-2024 academic year or any year prior, you will take a minor of 40 EC in your third year (B3). This is a package of related courses that will broaden or deepen your knowledge. You can choose from thematic minors, an educational minor, a study abroad minor or an elective minor.
