Gravity
Gravity is one of the central research themes of IMAPP, bringing together expertise from astrophysics, high energy physics and mathematics. Researchers at the institute study gravity across an unusually wide range of scales: from black holes, compact objects and gravitational waves to the mathematical structure of spacetime and the quantum foundations of general relativity.
A multi-scale approach to gravity
This combination of observational, theoretical, computational and mathematical expertise makes IMAPP a unique environment for gravity research. It allows questions about strong-field gravity, black hole physics, mathematical relativity and quantum gravity to be explored side by side, with close connections between the different approaches. The same breadth is reflected in the Gravity+ synergy track, which prepares Master’s students to engage with current gravitational research at Radboud and in the wider international research community.
