Our history

Established in 1988

On 1 May 1988 the then new Faculty of Policy Science started. Still being created in 1988 were the Department of Administrative Information Science and the Department of Business Administration.

On 19 April 2001 the name of the faculty changed to Faculteit der Managementwetenschappen (FdM); the English equivalent is Nijmegen School of Management (NSM). In its current form the faculty houses a unique and strong combination of interdisciplinary research with an impact on teaching and the practical aspects of management. Our academic strength lies in the five study programmes: Business Administration; Public Administration; Economics and Business Economics; Political Science; Social Geography, Spatial Planning and Environment and Policy.

Modern, green campus

In 1949 Radboud University bought the Heyendael estate. In the course of time the university buildings at other locations in Nijmegen closed, and a modern, green campus was created that invited personal contact and collaboration. Up to 2018 Nijmegen School of Management was located on Thomas van Aquino Street in Nijmegen. In 2018 a new, modern, location was opened on Heyendaalseweg 141 in Nijmegen: Gymnasion Noord. Nijmegen School of Management is in the Elinor Ostrom building here.
