If you wish to use RUQuest and use your campus card/staff card as a library card, you must first activate your account; you may do this even if you have not used RUQuest or borrowed materials for twelve months. Click here to find out more.
When you use RUQuest for the first time, you will see a form that allows you to give permission to store information.
If you use RUQuest to reserve or request items from the collection, you will first need to log in.
For this purpose, go to ru.nl/ubn/ruquest
and click the Login button at the top right of the page. You will then see the following screen:
Once your account has been activated, you will need to wait one working day before you can use your card to borrow items. You may log in and use RUQuest right away.
Using RUQuest and borrowing items with your campus card or staff card requires storage of a limited amount of non-traceable data. When storing personal data, we are legally obliged to request permission and this data may not be retained for longer than is necessary. The time specified for this is one year after inactivity.

If you waited one working day before borrowing or reserving an item and you are still getting an error message, please send an email via Ask your Librarian. Don’t forget to mention that you logged into RUQuest by following the aforementioned step-by-step instructions. The University Library staff will then activate your card for you. This can take up to one working day.
