Forwarding your mail to another account

From 21 August 2023, for security reasons, it will no longer be possible to automatically forward mails received via your @ru-mail address to an external mail address. If you use this option, it is important to manually deactivate this automatic forward as soon as possible.

Change your mail account settings before 21 August so you don't miss out your emails:

  1. Log in to your mail via outlook.office.com
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Select 'Show all Outlook settings'
  4. Click on 'Rules'
  5. Delete the rule created to automatically forward mail

Do you manage a functional mailbox?

With the above steps, you only adjust the forwarding of your personal account. If you are the administrator of a shared functional mailbox on which a forward has been set up, you must first switch to this mailbox from the webmail. Click on the account name (top right of the screen) and select 'Open another mailbox'. The functional mailbox opens in a new tab. Everything you change there applies to the functional mailbox.

Setting up an automatic forward

Until 21 August, you can automatically forward mails to an external mailbox. After that, it only remains possible to automatically forward e-mails to internal mailboxes. We recommend that you never include confidential or personal information in your webmail. Follow these steps to set up an automatic forward.

  1. Go to https://mail.ru.nl and log in with your email address and password;

  2. In the top right corner, click ‘Options’ and select ‘Create an Inbox Rule’;

  3. In the next screen, select ‘New’;

  4. In the top field, select ‘Apply to all messages’, and in the second field, select ‘Redirect the message to’. If you want, you can select ‘More Options’ to give this rule a name, but this is not obligatory;

  5. Please now fill in which mailbox you want to forward your messages to. Select an address from your Exchange address book, or add an address manually (at ‘To’), and press ‘OK’;

  6. Click ‘Save’, in the following screen, select ‘Yes’;

  7. In the screen after that, select ‘Yes’ again, unless your workflow requires a different solution;

You have now activated an automatic email forward.
