Installing the corporate identity plugin on macOS

This guide explains how to install and activate the Radboud University corporate identity plugin for Microsoft 365 Word and PowerPoint on a Mac. Screenshots are included to help you through each step.

Steps

  1. To complete the installation correctly, you’ll need:

    • A computer running macOS Ventura or newer
    • Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint)
    • The latest version of the Radboud University corporate identity plugin

  2. 1. Close all Microsoft Office applications

    Close all Microsoft 365 Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

  3. 2. Download the required files

    Download the files. This contains a map with:

    • Radboud University ribbon menu for Word en PowerPoint (zip-file)
    • Installer (pkg-file)

    Click the download button on the top-left of the screen to download the files to your computer.

  4. 3. Store the files in the correct map

    • Open Finder
    • Click 'Go' in the top menu bar
    • Select 'Computer'

    • Double-click your hard drive (usually called Macintosh HD).
    • Go to Users → Shared (/Users/Shared).

    Place both files here:

    • ZIP file: do not unzip it
    • Installer file (.pkg)

  5. 4. Run the installation

    • Navigate to the .pkg file in the Shared folder.
    • Cmd-click the file and select Open.

    If macOS shows a warning message, please follow these steps to run the installer.

    • Follow the instructions in the installer

    • Make sure the installation completes without any error messages.

  6. 5. Check the installation in Word

    • First, open Microsoft Word (make sure you’re signed in with your Radboud account) and check whether the Radboud University corporate identity plugin appears in the top left corner of the toolbar.

    Click the red 'Templates' button.

    • Check whether the list of templates appears.
    • Open a template and confirm that the correct document loads.

    Then:

    • Select Blank document.
    • Click LogoSwitch → Insert logo for PDF and check that the logo appears.
    • Click LogoSwitch → Remove logo again and verify that the logo disappears.

  7. 7. Check the installation in Powerpoint

    Repeat the steps above, but skip the ‘LogoSwitch’ test.

  8. 8. Completion

    The installation is successful if:

    • The plugin installs without any error messages
    • The house style options in Word and PowerPoint are visible and functional
    • Templates and logos work correctly
