Eva goes above and beyond to help her students and her colleagues. She is always three steps ahead, which makes her colleagues' lives easier! Eva goes out of her way to help colleagues, by sharing her experiences and materials. She is absolutely a team player!

Ans en Elvira zijn onze super secretaresses. Zij zorgen voor een warm welkom van de nieuwe mensen op onze afdeling, ze zijn een luisterend oor voor eenieder. Ze luisteren niet alleen, maar hebben heel vaak ook heel snel een oplossing voor de meest uiteenlopende uitdagingen. Ze zijn pro-actief, ze staan altijd klaar (ook als ze eigenlijk vrij zouden willen nemen….), weten alles en hebben een goed gevoel voor wie van welke humor houdt. Ik zou niet weten hoe we als afdeling zouden kunnen functioneren zonder deze twee kei-goeie dames!

Joseline is het anker op de achtergrond in de chaos van transdisciplinaire processen. Dit jaar speelde zij een onmisbare rol in de cursus ‘Governance of Nature Conservation’. Ze bewaakte niet alleen deadlines, maar verbond ook studenten rechten, management en ecologie met stakeholders, met wie zij gedurende het vak fijnbesnaard het contact onderhield. Van haar verbindend vermogen moet zelfs de meest ervaren bestuurder nog inder de indruk zijn. Dit culmineerde in de door haar georganiseerde eindpresentatie waar, naast álle stakeholders, zelfs wethouders aanwezig waren. Joseline verdient daarmee veel meer dan een plek op de achtergrond – zij verdient een heel groot podium!

Lisanne is niet alleen mijn linker- én rechterhand, maar ook die van bijvoorbeeld onze onderzoeksdirecteuren en -coördinatoren en van Bureau Onderzoek. Omdat ze niet zo zichtbaar is voor alle collega’s in de faculteit wordt wel eens vergeten hoe belangrijk zij is als schakel in allerlei processen. Ze is daarnaast ook nog een hele gezellige, lieve, betrokken, leuke collega die ik echt voor geen goud zou willen missen! Zij is het lichtend voorbeeld van iemand die haar werk op de achtergrond zó goed doet, dat mensen soms niet zien hoe belangrijk en onmisbaar zij is.

Monique is al heel veel jaren de stille kracht achter allerlei systemen in de Letterenfaculteit. Zo werk ik met haar in Hora Finita en ik verwonder me elke keer weer met hoe veel zorg, geduld, kunde en kennis Monique iedere wetenschapper aan onze universiteit (en ver daarbuiten) begeleidt in het proces van promotieregistraties, manuscriptbeoordelingen en promoties. Het is een enorm groot plezier om met haar te werken en ik durf er niet aan te denken dat haar pensioen langzaam maar zeker nadert.

Een grote shout-out naar deze drie (voormalig) onderzoeksdirecteuren van onze Letterenfaculteit en naar de manier waarop zij promovendi in onze faculteit zíen, met oog voor zowel de grootste lijnen als het kleinste detail, met hun luisterend oor, met het lef om toe te geven dat ook zij niet alles weten en met respect voor iedereen met wie zij werken. Ik gun alle onderzoeksinstituten zulke directeuren.

Robin is niet alleen een uitstekende docent en jonge onderzoeker, ook is hij een bijzonder fijne collega die vaak de tijd neemt om te vragen hoe het met je gaat, die oprechte en diepe interesse heeft in het werk van anderen en tijdens vergaderingen en besprekingen altijd iets zinnigs te zeggen heeft. Hij komt altijd voor anderen op en is erg betrokken.

We proudly nominate Stijn Bluiminck for his exceptional ability to bridge translational research, clinical practice, and societal issues in surgery. He has a sharp eye for sustainable healthcare and lifestyle medicine, and is a creative, innovative researcher and inspiring mentor. Stijn successfully completed the Radboudumc Honours Program in Chicago, resulting in a scientific paper. As the vital glue of the Gallbladder Research Group, he brings intellect, empathy, and vision to the team. His humility and leadership make him indispensable, and he truly embodies the spirit of the RYA Recognises and Rewards Prize.

With other colleagues, we organised this year a pilot transdisciplinary course, Governance of Nature conservation. This was a complex and innovative courses with students from the Faculty of Management, of Law, and of Science. It would have been impossible to manage without Joseline and her skills as a project manager. She was the main facilitator and it enabled us to focus more on the content. She was always on top of things, getting in touch with us, students and stakeholders, and she did an amazing job at it. We are very thankful to her.

Kitty is beleidsmedewerker onderzoek bij de Rechtenfaculteit. Haar inzet is enorm; zij is de spin in het web waar het gaat om allerlei onderzoeksgerelateerde kwesties, van Open Science en wetenschappelijke integriteit tot onderzoeksubsidies en promovendibeleid. Zij is tevens secretaris van de Wetenschapscommissie; een zware taak omdat alle promotievoorstellen langs deze commissie gaan. Kitty weet aldus vele ballen in de lucht te houden. Haar reflecties en bijdragen zijn altijd waardevol. Tijdens het zwangerschapsverlof van een collega (Graduate School Coördinator) heeft zij tijdelijk veel taken overgenomen. Kitty is met andere woorden een zeer gewaardeerde collega en zeer prettig om mee samen te werken!

Annick makes sure that R&R is consistently placed at our department's agenda, that we maintain a dialogue about R&R, and that all colleagues are included in the dialogue. We need people like her to keep moving the discussion into the direction of tangible results.

Gaard zet onvermoeibaar zijn politicologische expertise in om van onze universitaire gemeenschap een fijnere plek te maken. Hij is kritisch op het academisch bedrijf waar dat steken laat vallen en uitgesproken in het bij de les houden van bestuurders als het gaat om het prioriteren van principes en solidariteit boven winst en bureaucratie – een toewijding die juist nu van existentieel belang is voor onze universiteit. En dat alles altijd constructief, verbindend en met humor. Gaard heeft een enorm enthousiasmerend en mobiliserend vermogen: hij kan met iedereen door één deur, weet altijd waar aan te kloppen, zet zorgen om in actie, maakt echt het verschil.

Marieke brengt op een inspirerende manier haar inhoudelijke wetenschappelijke expertise en haar academisch burgerschap samen. Ze zet zich onvermoeibaar in om op creatieve en verbindende manieren de universitaire gemeenschap – en met name haar bestuurders – een spiegel voor te houden als het gaat om het waarmaken van onze visie en missie in deze moedeloos makende tijden. Haar enorme toewijding aan studenten die hun nek uitsteken, haar kristalheldere morele kompas en haar volhardende compassie zijn van enorm belang voor de universiteit en een houvast voor velen.

Al een paar jaar kampt onze faculteit met flinke bezuinigingen en mijn team houdt zich heel goed in deze lastige situatie. Het blijkt bovendien heel veerkrachtig, wendbaar, gezellig en creatief, ze staan altijd klaar om onze docenten te adviseren en ik ben heel trots op ze.

I nominate my colleague, Luke Miller, because he has graciously and actively supported me in the past couple of years with regards to my academic journey. Specifically, Luke has acted as a "de facto" coach, offering advice on career path decisions, provided detailed feedback on grant proposals, supported me through moments of my imposter syndrome, and has generously shared space in his lab for me. He’s not only a thoughtful listener but also a dependable collaborator who consistently follows through. His support has created a sense of belonging and motivation, contributing greatly to a healthier and more inclusive academic environment.

I proudly nominate Nina for the "Social Glue" Award. Nina keeps our department afloat—a skill her perpetually dying fish clearly haven't mastered. Her lunchtime tales of aquatic drama have become legendary entertainment. Beyond fish resuscitation, Nina has a sixth sense for detecting colleague meltdowns, appearing with cookies, invitations for coffee and perfect-timed encouragement (for sportive activities). Without her organizing our impromptu celebrations and coffee breaks, our department would be like her fish tank without Nina—technically functional but significantly less lively. Here's to our irreplaceable human lighthouse in the academic storm!

Ik nomineer graag Wim van Ooijen. Er is niemand die zoveel hart voor de zaak, of institutionele kennis, heeft. Hij staat al meer dan 40 jaar voor iedereen klaar, zelfs na zijn pensioen. Heb je informatie nodig en weet je niet bij wie je moet zijn? Wim Weet Alles! In de uitzonderlijke gevallen dat hij het zelf niet weet, zoekt hij het voor je uit. Heb je last van je rug? Een dag later staat er een betere bureaustoel op je werkplek, zonder dat je erom hebt hoeven vragen.

Graag nomineer ik Monique Wakkerman (alias Monique OG), omdat ze is wie ze is. Aanstekelijk vrolijk, integer en gaat voor haar werk door het vuur. Ze werkt niet veel op de campus, maar als ze er is, schijnt bij ons meteen de zon.

Ik nomineer mijn collega Marieke Palstra vanwege haar aanstekelijke positiviteit en inzet voor een inclusieve en verbonden werkomgeving. Ze organiseert regelmatig sociale activiteiten zoals sectie-uitjes. Bij promoties van collega’s schrijft ze vaak een humoristisch en persoonlijk liedje, wat wij dan als vaksectie zingen bij de promotie. Deze dingen zijn cruciaal voor het groepsgevoel. Daarnaast is ze ook bewust bezig met inclusiviteit, bijvoorbeeld door het stimuleren van het spreken van Engels in gezelschap van niet-Nederlandstalige collega’s zodat ook zij zich welkom voelen. Haar betrokkenheid en oog voor anderen maken haar onmisbaar binnen onze sectie en Marieke illustreert volgens mij wat ‘Erkennen en Waarderen’ betekent.

Vera creates a work environment for me and her other PhDs that feels safe and supportive while still pushing us to be the best version of ourselves. Since Annick and Sally joined our department, I noticed an appreciable shift in the type and quality of the discourse at our workplace. They strive for a healthy work environment, they speak their minds, and they engage without hesitation with difficult, yet very important topics. Sally and Annick fight the good fight. They stand for good academic citizenship and that is why I am highly appreciative of their collegiality and of the work that they do.

His popularity among students is matched only by his sense of responsibility; they often line up at his door, knowing they’ll be met with patience, care, and thoughtful guidance. Whether supporting a colleague through illness or encouraging students to learn, Guilel fosters a culture of non-judgmental warmth and mutual respect. His generosity is not only ethical, but atmospheric—it shapes the environment we work in. With this nomination, we celebrate his example, and thank him.

Hans heeft het initiatief genomen tot het oprichten van de Radboud Community Projectmatig Werken, waarin collega's kennis en ervaring kunnen uitwisselen. Dit gebeurt in de teamsomgeving en via bijeenkomsten voor kennisoverdracht. Inmiddels zijn er 110 leden, vanuit faculteiten en divisies.
Hans heeft ook de 'kennismaking projectmatig werken' ontwikkeld, een dag waarin twee ervaren collega's in de vorm van een training medewerkers wegwijs maken in de basis van projectmatig werken. Hans doet dit vanuit een intrinsieke motivatie om zoveel mogelijk collega's bij de universiteit te bereiken en enthousiast te maken. Aankomende donderdag doen we samen de pilot hiervan. Deelnemers komen van verschillende divisies en faculteiten. De credits, ook voor creativiteit, zijn voor hem.

Persvoorlichter Lieneke is al sinds ze hier werkt een plezier om mee samen te werken; ze is energiek, vrolijk, positief, ze heeft binnen no time een netwerk en goede relaties opgebouwd met onze wetenschappers, en (niet onbelangrijk) ze is heel aardig. Daarnaast is ze creatief in het inzetten van verschillende vormen van wetenschapscommunicatie (zoals podcasts en video-explainers) en weet daarmee een nieuw publiek te bereiken. Echt fijn om haar als collega bij wetenschapscommunicatie te hebben!

Ik nomineer Carolin Ossenkop omdat zij een engaged docent en collega is die initiatief neem om onze masterprogramma in het geheel te verbeteren en in haar cursussen innovatief uitvoert.

Floor Bessems kun je om een boodschap sturen. Dat blijkt ook in haar nieuwe rol als projectleider voor het HOOP project van de FdM. Daarin stuurt Floor maar liefst 8 deelprojecten aan waarin wetenschappelijke en professionele staf samenwerken aan een strategie voor goed onderwijs. Ze ontwikkelt zich snel tot een geweldig projectleider. Ze pakt het project gestructureerd aan, overziet het complexe geheel en zorgt dat deadlines worden gehaald. Ze heeft een positieve, verbindende en vriendelijke stijl, en straalt plezier uit. Daarmee geeft ze projectleden vertrouwen en weet ze ambities en zorgen te temperen. Werken met Floor is een groot plezier.

I’d like to nominate my on-site supervisor for the award for her exceptional leadership and dedication as a PhD candidate managing a research project to improve exposure therapy for social anxiety using tACS (non-invasive brain stimulation). Her passion for helping those who struggle to speak up is matched by her inspiring ability to lead a diverse team of students and research assistants with grace, positivity, and sheer enthusiasm. She creates an inclusive, motivating environment where science and compassion thrive. Her remarkable commitment truly deserves recognition.

As an international PhD student, settling into a new country and workplace was really overwhelming, but Wytske made it so much easier. She helped me navigate so much of the Dutch formalities, warned me about housing scams (saved me from three!), and even got in touch before my start date when she heard I was struggling to find a place. From small helpful gestures like emailing me about holidays/traditions in the Netherlands to being my beck and call for all my queries, she has always offered me a safe space to communicate. Her friendly, approachable nature, empathy, and habit of checking in (“How was your evening/weekend?”) make her a comforting presence and a big reason the work environment feels so supportive for me.

Since the beginning of the Radboud Young Academy, Moniek has a been a pillar and a driving force. With astounding precision, overview and insight, she is able to stimulate, support and oversee that the numerous activities of the young academy are successfully developed, implemented and communicated. Her advising role and her experience have been crucial, in combination with a wonderful calm resolve that make her a fantastic colleague to work with. With gestures big and small she makes the members feel part of a larger family. We couldn’t be happier to have her in our team.

Gerdien is the backbone of our office, who tirelessly supports all of her PhD colleagues through any struggles. Moreover, her drive to create positive changes in our department is highly commendable. Gerdien is a tireless, passionate and openminded researcher who is very deserving of recognition for all that she contributes, as well as for her dedication and perseverance in her work.

Joyce has made it her personal mission to ensure that any of her colleagues' successes are being celebrated, no matter how big or small they might be.
She is also a meticulous and innovative researcher known for her analytical rigor and dedication to scientific inquiry. Her work demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and intellectual curiosity, and she is also able to transfer knowledge and new insights in a clear and enthusiastic manner to students and coworkers alike. As a colleague, she is incredibly open and collaborative, takes initiative and responsibility for the organisation of lab groups and colloquia, and always has an open door and a listening ear.

I nominate Sally for her outstanding contributions across teaching, research, and service. An innovative lecturer, she engages students through creative methods such as treaty negotiation role play, to name one example. Despite being early in her career, Sally has built an impressive international research profile and reputation. Sally also plays an active role in University life as a member of the OR. She has shown strong leadership more broadly, notably by chairing departmental discussions on our response to the Faculty of Law and leading the modernisation of our Master’s thesis supervision process. Sally is a remarkable colleague whose work has a broad and positive impact.

Lea is truly special. Even in the storm of finishing her PhD, she remains strongly glued to the communities around her. Yes, communitIES: her research group, department, institute, city, the global PhD network, the neuroscience field, society at large… the planet. Honestly, it touches almost everything, and capturing it in under 100 words feels impossible. Closest to my heart is the CNS Green Team, which she champions with tireless enthusiasm. I don’t know how she does it, but I’ll keep looking up to her, always inspired.
