Prof. C.C. Aerts (Conny)

Prof. Conny Aerts conducts research in the field of asteroseismology, a branch of astronomy that studies star content on the basis of star oscillations. The methods involved are similar to those used by seismologists to study the earth's iron core. The physical processes in the core of a star determine its life and are of crucial importance in accurately mapping out this process. Asteroseismology is a discipline developed over the last fifteen years, after analogous studies concerning the sun proved successful in accurately determining solar activity.
