M. Appel (Michelle)

Michelle Appel is a PhD candidate at the Donders Institute for Brain and Cognition. She works under the supervision of Prof. Marcel van Gerven, Dr Yağmur Güçlütürk and Dr Umut Güçlü. Their work is about closing the simulation-reality gap by using simulation-based image segmentation. Simultaneously, they develop lightweight AI that can run in real-time on edge devices. Together, the work serves as a cornerstone for AI-generated phosphene inference for visual cortical implants.
