My research is driven by the relations people have with plants. In my project, I am investigating the role psychoactive plants play in Amazonian societies and what the differences in names and uses can tell us about past contact. Specifically, I will be working in collaboration with stakeholders in the border region between Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. This project will be carried out by mixing qualitative and quantitative methods to identify matches and mismatches in names/uses between language communities.
