I strive to combine the power of next-generation sequencing approaches, such as (meta-)genomics and (meta-)transcriptomics, with classical microbiology and biochemistry. Linking sequencing and bioinformatics with wet-lab experience allows me to generate an integrated understanding of microbes, their inner workings, and their function in the environment.
