Paul Bovend'Eert (1957) studied law at the Radboud University of Nijmegen. He graduated in 1981 with a specialization in Constitutional Law and Criminal Law. The Faculty of Law awarded his masterthesis on Cabinet Crisis and Cabinet Formation in 1982. After graduation he worked as a researcher at the Centre for Parliamentary History. In 1988 The Radboud University of Nijmegen awarded him a doctorate degree in Law for a Thesis on Coalition Agreements in Dutch Constitutional Law. In 1988 he was appointed Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Nijmegen. In 1992 he stayed at the Iowa College of Law, Iowa University USA, as a visiting researcher. Between 1995 and 2001 he was Vice Dean for Education at the Faculty of Law. Since 1999 he has been Professor of Constitutional Law. Between 2008 and 2010 he worked as Vice Dean for Education once again. Since 2010 he is Dean of the Faculty of Law. Paul Bovend'Eert was elected best teaching professor (lectures) by the Nijmegen law students in 2009 and in 2012.

Paul Bovend’Eert conducts research into constitutional law and specifically focuses on the king, and the government, parliament and judicial system, also in a comparative law perspective (American constitutional law). He is currently focusing on issues of political integrity.
