During his PhD, Martijn gained experience with both bulk and single-cell RNA and ATAC sequencing and the analysis/integration of these data. In the group of Dr. Richárd Bártfai, Martijn is applying his experience to unravel vivax-type malaria parasite biology using single-cell RNA sequencing and epigenetic profiling. Comparing these data from four different malaria parasite species, allows for the discovery of evolutionary conserved and unique biological processes.
