David is a postdoc at the Nijmegen School of Management, department of Economics. He will extend his previous PhD research and postdoctoral research by investigating the role of financial incentives in physical activity and sports participation.

David obtained his PhD in health psychology at Leiden University and completed a postdoc in human-centered design at TUDelft. His expertise lies at the intersection of product development, scientific research, and policymaking in the domain of health behavior change. David strongly believes in the value of applied research through collaboration with commercial partners, healthcare providers, and governments to do observations and conduct experiments.

Currently, David combines his postdoc at Radboud University with a part-time appointment at Leiden University where he leads ‘Healthy South-Holland’. This innovation project aims to improve public health policy making by building bridges between policy makers and academics in the Dutch province South-Holland.

Before entering academia, David worked as a behavioral analyst at the digital health startup Selfcare. There, he collaborated with the company's founders, software programmers, and designers to develop and implement a digital platform for health behavior change.

David is committed to study and develop digital tools that support health behavior change, with a special interest in financial incentives.
