Heleen de Coninck is a professor in system transitions and climate change and at the Department of Environmental Science in the Radboud Institute for Biological and Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Science. She is also professor in socio-technical innovation and climate change at Eindhoven University of Technology. Before joining the university, she worked for over 10 years on international energy and climate policy at the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN), the largest energy research institute in the country. Her main research interest are in international climate policy, energy technology and innovation, with in the Netherlands a focus on industrial climate policy. She was one of the Coordinating Lead Authors of the IPCC Special Report on limiting warming to 1.5C (2018) and of the mitigation part of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (2022).

Heleen de Coninck researches international climate policy, deep emission reductions in energy-intensive industry and international technology cooperation, especially with developing countries. She was a coordinating lead author of the 2018 IPCC report on limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees C.
