Oana Costache studied Linguistics (MA) and Educational Sciences (MSc) at the Utrecht University. She received her PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of Zurich in 2023. Currently, she works as a postdoctoral researcher within the National Education Lab AI (NOLAI), a lab dedicated to enhancing educational quality through AI applications.

Projects

2022 - 2032 NOLAI is the national educational AI lab for primary and secondary education in the Netherlands, funded by the National Growth Fund (€143 million for the period 2022-2035). In dozens of projects at schools throughout the Netherlands, we develop and research responsible educational AI. Unique is the focus on the cooperation between education, scientists and business (EdTech). More information
2025 - 2028 AI-teach is an Erasmus+ Teacher Academy project that supports teachers in navigating artificial intelligence in education. It offers an international capacity-building program to enhance AI literacy among both pre-service and in-service secondary school teachers. Through training, research, and international collaboration, AI-teach helps educators use AI in ethical, critical, and creative ways in their teaching practice. More information
2024 - Teacher Tapp is a daily survey app where Dutch teachers working in primary, secondary, vocational or higher education can answer daily questions so their collective opinions can be heard and used to inform school leaders, media, policy makers and organizations creating products for schools. 2025 - 2029 MoMIt (Mental Models of Italian as a Foreign Language in Primary School) is a research project led by the University of Teacher Education Graubünden and the University of Bern. It investigates the attitudes, motivation, and emotions of students, teachers, and parents towards learning, teaching, and supporting Italian as a school foreign language in the German-speaking part of the Canton of Graubünden.
