In my project I investigate the influence of experience on the descriptions people give of taste and smell. I compare people with a lot of experience and specific expertise in describing smells and tastes, mainly wine experts, to people without that specific experience (novices). In addition, part of my research investigates the role of expertise and language on thinking (cognition), more specifically on imagery and memory for smells and tastes.
