Frederik Van Dam teaches courses on modern European literature and cultural theory in different programs at the Faculty of Arts.
His research revolves around the function of literature in public debates. He has a background in English studies, with a particular expertise in the Victorian novel. In his most recent research, he is working on two projects, one dealing with British poetry and diplomacy, the other focusing on Central-European 'minor' modernism and infrastructure.
As a part of his outreach activities, he has been involved in various creative collaborations, including a graphic novel adaptation of a Victorian novel, a documentary featuring an eminent literary critic, a board game that simulates research, and interviews with contemporary writers.
He is the chair of European Consortium for Humanities Institutes and Centres, the co-chair of the Radboud Young Academy, and an editor of the European Journal of English Studies.
