Paloma David studied Cultural Anthropology at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and followed her studies by pursuing a Research Masters in Religious Studies at the University of Amsterdam.

In all of her academic endeavors, she has been specializing in the contemporary uses of the Amazonian brew ayahuasca. She is currently a PhD Student at Radboud University, where she studies the shifting perceptions of th ayahuasca, from a diachronic and interdisciplinary perspective that includes anthropology, philosophy, as well as the intersection between the ontological turn and posthumanism.
