Dr. Dege’s work is situated within critical theory, political phenomenology and epistemology as well as democratic and environmental thought. It probes the role of myth, ignorance and opacity in the face of humanity’s inability to act despite the overwhelming scientific evidence about human-caused climate change. To this end, she pays special attention to the history and politics of myth debates, ideology critique, conspiracy theories and science denialism as well as the relation between reason, perception and emotion.
Dege received a PhD in Political Theory from Yale University in 2019. Before coming to Radboud in January 2024, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Polonsky Academy at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute and a visiting scholar at the Remarque Institute at NYU as well as the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University.
