My work is about the relation of politics and ethics to science and technology. In recent years I have been focused on developments in AI, and earlier on I was interested in the life sciences. Sometimes that is about DNA in a lab or in a dataset or about about how an LLM has been operationalized. At other times I am interested in policy and government, and concepts like freedom, equality, democracy and so on. Preferably I do both, if possible. At the moment I am interested in the convalesce of AI with housing and aging. Once again there are many ideas about how AI might meaningfully be part of new types of housing, of ageing, treatment and care. It makes sense to consider “how”, “where” and “if” “meaningful human control” is possible.
