I am a literary scholar with an unusual background in both Classics and Cultural Studies. My research interests are cultural change and cultural heritage, reception of antiquity in the 20th and 21st century, and research themes such as creativity and imagination. I teach on art criticism, creative writing and literary theory. I supervise Phd theses in the fields of classical reception studies, cultural history and literary studies. I also frequently collaborate with artists and cultural institutions. For instance, I am currently developing an exhibition on antiquity in the 21st century with two museums in the framework of the so-called Gravitation program 'Anchoring Innovation in Antiquity' (NWO-OCW).
