As a PhD candidate at the Data Science department, Marene studies the potential that AI can have in the patient values clarification process. For all preference-sensitive decisions that are to be made in the medical context, it is important for patients to be aware of their personal values and preferences. Only when this information is taken into account when making the decision, a choice that best fits the patients' life can be made. This has many positive outcomes, such as higher patient satisfaction and higher compliance with the chosen path of care.
Specifically, Marene aims to gather stakeholder perspectives on this challenge as well as on first prototypes that could potentially support this process.
