In my PhD research I explore the myriad ways in which we are haunted by these things we call "waste" and in so doing critically reflect on Modernity and its outcasts. Drawing on the work of Jacques Derrida (among others) I trace what I call the “specter of waste” and propose a hauntology of waste, that forces us to rethink being (ontology) – to be is to haunt and be haunted – and allows us to critically reflects on the dangerous fantasies of "green" ideologie, such as recycling without remainders within a circular economy.
