Dr K.E. Geertsema (Karen)

Dr. Karen Geertsema obtained her PhD from the VU University (Amsterdam) in november 2018. Her project entitled 'Judicial Review in Asylum Law. A Legal Analysis of the Intensity of Judicial Review in the Dutch Asylum Procedure, 2001-2015’ consisted of a legal analysis of restricted judicial review in Dutch asylum cases. Before and during her PhD project she worked as a refugee lawyer in Amsterdam. After completing her PhD project she worked as an editor for the legal journal ‘Asiel- & Migrantenrecht’. Karen Geertsema is currently teacher and researcher in migration law.
