Bullying is a public health concern with negative short- and long-term consequences for all involved. Yet, anti-bullying interventions remain limited in their effectiveness, necessitating a better understanding of the underlying drivers of these behaviors.
My research focuses on ringleader bullies and those who tag along (i.e., assist or reinforce bullying), whose aggressive behaviors may originate from different motivations. We examine popularity motivations, social and moral cognitions, and mental well-being of children and adolescents in Dutch schools, investigating respective processes on the deliberate and automatic level.
