Prof. Rob van der Heijden studied Building & Architecture at Eindhoven University of technology. He received a PhD in regional planning in 1986 at this university. He was full professor in Transport & Logistics at Delft University of Technology (1994-2001), full professor in Spatial Planing at the Radboud University (2001-2016) and is since 2016 professor in Planning methods at Radboud University. From 2011 to 2016 he was Dean of the Nijmegen School of Management,
He conducts studies on the management of passenger and goods transport in relation to the spatial planning of infrastructures and the development of economic hubs. He is specifically interested in:
environmental effects, and safety in particular; innovative information technology in transport; social costs and benefits of the physical infrastructure; processes of public-private cooperation.
His research is in line with current planning methods and the tradition of participative policy analysis. The research is embedded in the hotspot Integrated Decision Making (ID):
