I am interested in the functional anatomy of neurological symptoms, in particular of movement disorders. My main focus in on Parkinson's disease, and I am especially interested in tremor. The human brain is organized in networks, and this is important for explaining neurological symptoms. My research tools are functional MRI, combined with EMG, SPECT and TMS. I use them to investigate (resting state) functional connectivity, effective connectivity (DCM), and task-based cerebral activity. My aim is that these findings will help explain neurological symptoms, and lead to new diagnostics and treatments for patients with movement disorders.
