Dr. Iris Hendrickx is senior researcher and assistant professor University Nijmegen in the field of computational linguistics and digital humanities. Her interests include machine learning, lexical and relational semantics, text normalization, and text mining. She obtained her PhD at Tilburg University, The Netherlands in 2005, and worked as researcher in several projects at the University of Antwerp (2006-2009), University College Ghent (2009), Belgium and the Linguistics Center at the University of Lisbon (2009-2012) in Portugal. During these projects she worked on the topics of automatic summarization, co-reference resolution, constructing linguistic resources like tools and corpora, and historical text mining.

Iris Hendrickx researches how AI systems can be used in language technology. Her current work includes the development of a computer system that can talk to people - for instance clients in the healthcare sector - about their happiness and health in Dutch.
