Jan Hendriks investigates the impact of substances on plants, animals and man. As lab and field research across thousands of chemical substances, geographical sites, biological species and technological constructs is severely limited by financial, practical and ethical constraints, he derives mathematical models based on cross-disciplinary (scaling) principles, minimizing data input for parameterisation. The models are tuned and tested in collaboration with lab and field scientists. Subsequently, the models are applied together with agencies, consultancies, companies and other stakeholders to assess environmental problems and sustainable solutions.
