Prof. Chris Hermans conducts empirical studies on contemporary religiosity in both Christianity and other world religions and new religious movements. His research themes include:

religious language (of children in particular);
religious education in the family, at school, and in church;
morality and religion in an increasingly individualized society;
moral standards in education;
the identity of Catholic education and pupils from ethnic minorities;
rituals and experience;
dialogue between religions;
religion and brain research.
