Prof. Van der Hoeven studies the role of innate immunity in sepsis, acute cerebral disorders and trauma, and more particularly, aspects of oedema formation and vascular permeability. In addition, he has specific knowledge of mechanotransduction and its relation to lung damage attributed to ventilation.
