Anne Horvers is a PhD candidate at the Adaptive Learning Lab, Radboud University. She holds master's degrees in both Educational and Pedagogical Sciences (Learning Problems). Her main interest lies in technology in education, with a specific focus on adaptive learning technologies (ALTs) and Artificial Intelligence. Her research centers around understanding the role of emotions during learning and young learners’ self-regulation. Over the last years, she has worked as an educationalist, developing language and mathematics content for young learners. Moreover, she conducted research on the professionalization of teachers, focusing on their ICT competencies. Currently, in her PhD research, she uses multimodal data streams to capture students' emotional responses while they learn with ALTs. She aims to investigate the potential enhancement of ALTs with an emotion-sensitive algorithm and evaluate its effectiveness for different students.
