Marije Hristova is Assistant Professor of Hispanic Culture and Literature at Radboud University (2020 – present). Previously she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Cofund fellow at the University of Warwick and a postdoctoral researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid. She is a researcher in the project NECROPOL, funded by the Spanish ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities (2020-2024). In 2019 she was co-organizer of the Third Annual Conference of the Memory Studies Association (MSA) in Madrid and is a member of the Advisory Board of the MSA. Marije obtained her PhD (cum laude) from Maastricht University in 2016 with the dissertation titled Reimagining Spain: Transnational Entanglements and Remembrance of the Spanish Civil War since 1989. Her current research focuses on the remembrance of mass grave exhumations in art and literature. Her research interest comprise transnational memory discourses and the production of cultural memories after the forensic turn in Spain and in Europe.
