Christoph Hübenthal is interested in public theology as a specification of systematic theology. He explores the possibility of articulating propositions from the perspective of a particular faith tradition that claims not only to be understandable for everyone but also to be existentially relevant. Are such propositions possible at all? What is their content, and what is it not? Which kind of rationality is presupposed to make such claims? Of course, questions like these have always been the subject matter of a systematic theological reflection, but in the context of a pluralist, secularist, and globalized society they still have another acuteness. Hübenthal approaches these problems mainly from a systematic and social-ethical perspective.
